Rashida Jones Writes a New Role For Herself in Hollywood

Actress Rashida Jones, daughter of famed musician and producer Quincy Jones, continues to forge her own path in Hollywood. Wednesday evening the co-star of NBC’s sitcom “Parks and Recreation,” attended a special screening in New York City of her coming romantic comedy “Celeste And Jesse Forever,” which opens in select theaters on Friday.
In a striking departure from her usual girl-next-door affability, Ms. Jones plays Celeste, an aggressively ambitious marketing executive who struggles cutting ties with her soon-to-be ex-husband played by Andy Samberg, a recent “Saturday Night Live” alum.
Ms. Jones, 36, co-wrote the movie with fellow star and long-time friend Will McCormack. She spoke to Speakeasy on the Sunshine Landmark theatre’s red carpet about penning her own film, new scripts that she has in the works, and her commitment to the International Rescue Committee, an organization that gives aid to refugees displaced by war and natural disasters.
