'The Glee Project' winner is...

After 11 weeks of competition, Ali, Blake, and Aylin were the final three contestants going into the Glee Project finale, and casting director Robert promised the trio that there would be only one winner. At the end of the hour, with final last-chance performances from all three, Ryan Murphy made up his mind. The winner of a seven-episode arc on Glee was (SPOILER ALERT!)…Blake! And yes, unlike last year, he was the only winner.

Murphy pointed out that it certainly wasn’t an easy decision, and going into tonight, it seemed like Blake was a bit of an underdog — both Ali and Aylin were buzzier names. The judges — as well as guest mentors such as Darren Criss (Team Ali) and Amber Riley (Team Aylin) — seemed to go back and forth between all three. But in the end, a newly vulnerable Blake, who wrote and read an emotional poem after his last-chance performance, walked away with the gig.

Victoria’s Secret already upsetting Bond Street neighbours

It's not yet opened its doors but Victoria's Secret's highly anticipated New Bond Street store is already getting its designer neighbours hot and bothered.

UpmarkeIt's not yet opened its doors but Victoria's Secret's highly anticipated New Bond Street store is already getting its designer neighbours hot and bothered.t department store Fenwick's, which is situated opposite the soon-to-open VS store, is allegedly "concerned about the potentially provocative window displays and the kind of shoppers it will attract" to the area, reports The Evening Standard .

The lingerie brand's choice to locate their flagship UK store on New Bond Street - which is home to mainly luxury labels such as Burberry and Miu Miu - is already controversial as in the US they are very much a high street brand with high street prices.
Victoria's Secret's first London store opened in Stratford's Westfield shopping centre - which lies right next to the Olympic Park - last week with no fanfare. As yet, no confirmed date has been released regarding the opening of the much bigger Bond Street store, although it is expected to coincide with the Olympics and to have some of the brands 'Angels' such as Alessandra Ambrosio , who will be in London to attend the Closing Ceremony of the Games, in attendance.

Why a Tomato Has Stronger Survival Instincts Than a Human

Last month, a group of scientists from around the world announced that they had successfully determined the DNA sequence of the tomato genome. One of the most surprising results of this work was that the lowly tomato, like rice and the common Arabidopsis before it, has more genes than we do – about 25% more.
How could this seemingly passive plant that we know and love, that key ingredient in ketchup and in our summer salads, be genetically more complex than we are?
This question has several answers, but I want to focus on one aspect of a tomato’s life, and indeed  the lives of all plants that we don’t often consider: how plants deal with rootedness and adversity, and how this could influence their genetic complexity.

Rashida Jones Writes a New Role For Herself in Hollywood

Actress Rashida Jones, daughter of famed musician and producer Quincy Jones, continues to forge her own path in Hollywood. Wednesday evening the co-star of NBC’s sitcom “Parks and Recreation,” attended a special screening in New York City of her coming romantic comedy “Celeste And Jesse Forever,” which opens in select theaters on Friday.
In a striking departure from her usual girl-next-door affability, Ms. Jones plays Celeste, an aggressively ambitious marketing executive who struggles cutting ties with her soon-to-be ex-husband played by Andy Samberg, a recent “Saturday Night Live” alum.
Ms. Jones, 36, co-wrote the movie with fellow star and long-time friend Will McCormack. She spoke to Speakeasy on the Sunshine Landmark theatre’s red carpet about penning her own film, new scripts that she has in the works, and her commitment to the International Rescue Committee, an organization that gives aid to refugees displaced by war and natural disasters.
